Dungeness Crab Season 2020

12/08/20- The California Department of Fish and Wildlife provided available Risk Assessment Data which was updated and posted on the CDFW website on 12/10/20. Risk Assessment Data

12/09/20- 8 Port Associations from Crescent City to Morro Bay held meetings with members of the Dungeness Crab commercial fishing fleet to discuss the data package and provide recommendations to the Dungeness Crab Fishing Gear Working Group and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. The outcome of those meetings was that the vast majority of the fleet was supportive of an additional delay of the Dungeness Crab season until 12/31/20 due to incomplete Risk Assessment Data.

12/10/20- California Department of Fish and Wildlife released an Initial Assessment and of Marine Life Entanglement Risk and Preliminary Management Recommendation

12/10/20-The Dungeness Crab Fishing Gear Working Group held Preseason Risk Assessment meetings to develop recommendations for the CDFW Director, took into consideration the outcome of the 12/9/20 Port meetings and reported that there was broad support for a season delay until 12/31/20.
